Rubi: 'We're convinced that this is the day we can beat Villarreal'

The UD Almería head coach praises the rivals and their gaffer. Even though he expects a tough game, he believes in his team

'We're convinced that this is the day we can beat Villarreal,' said UD Almería head coach Rubi at the pre-match press conference as he looked ahead to Sunday's stern test against the 'groguet' team. Before starting to talk about the upcoming game, the head coach, on behalf of the Club, conveyed his heartfelt condolences and expressed encouraging words for the family of José Manuel Llaneza and Villarreal CF.

Then, Rubi explained the reasons behind his conviction of being able to beat the rivals, despite the great difficulty that they will have to deal with to do so, as he acknowledged, 'we always go all out for the victory in each game and we're going to try to make it happen, that surprise that usually occurs every so often.'

In addition to this, the Catalan pointed out 'there's little time to prepare a match when you're playing on Thursday and Sunday, as it will happen to Villarreal CF, and what we're looking for is to be in good shape to face the appointment with confidence, because mentally we're motivated and excited, especially after winning last Thursday.'

Rubi, on the same topic, pointed out 'in this Saturday's session, we're going to cram all the work that would be done in a week,' and also stated 'what I ask my players is 'to die trying, be brave and be clear about the game's idea; that's essential.'

The Rojiblancos' head coach clarified that 'in the Primera Division and with the potential that you have in front of you is difficult not to concede, but we have to improve in this regard and in other aspects, as we've already done with a more vertical football,' referring to the 7 goals scored in the last three LaLiga Santander fixtures.

No one takes away from Rubi and his players the enthusiasm of being able to shock Villarreal CF, although he made it clear that the next rivals are one of the best teams in the Spanish league. In fact he praised their squad, their football and their 'top' head coach, as he described him.

'Both forwards, whoever plays, they do a great tactical job in attacking plays,' highlighted the UD Almería head coach, who also commented 'I'm in love with the old rockers, who haven't aged a bit, such as Raúl García, Navas, Joaquín or Parejo,' a Villarreal CF footballer, 'the match unfolds the way he wants,' Rubi underlined.
