23rd UD Almería appearance in Spanish Cup

The Rojiblancos reached the semi-finals once and the quarter-finals on another occasion, but they have also experienced important setbacks, such as in the last two tournaments when they were knocked out by Arenteiro and Barbastro

UD Almería are about to start their twenty-third Spanish Cup journey in San Sebastián de los Reyes, a tournament in which they have lived both unforgettable and difficult moments, something that can be common in teams at a general level with exceptions, due to the type of competition it is.

The Rojiblancos have won 24 of the 46 Cup ties they have played. The first was in the 2002/03 season, with the team that had just earned promotion to professional football; they eliminated Córdoba CF and lost in the second round to Recreativo de Huelva, who were finalists with Lucas Alcaraz in the driving seat.

Since then, exciting times like the semi-final against FC Barcelona in 2010/11, and the quarter-finals against Sevilla FC in 2020/21 after an epic round of 16 tie against CA Osasuna decided on penalties. But also the Indálicos had an awful, recent Cup experience. Last season, they were knocked out in the second round in Barbastro (Huesca) and a campaign before on the waterlogged Arenteiro pitch, without forgetting the tie lost out to Las Palmas- based side Tamaraceite back in 2019/20.
