UD Almería appoint Vicente Moreno as new head coach
The Valencia native, who moves from Saudi Arabian team Al Sharab FC, signs for one season. He was in the driving seat of Nástic de Tarragona, RCD Mallorca and RCD Espanyol de Barcelona
Vicente Moreno becomes the new UD Almería head coach to face a challenge in LaLiga Santander next 2023/24 season. The new gaffer of the Rojiblancos, who signs for one year, moves from Saudi Arabian team Al Sharab FC, where he has excelled in his first campaign in the home country of UD Almeria owner and President Turki Alalshikh. Before this experience abroad, he shone in Spain as he is a coach with character who gets the most out of his players and makes his teams to be highly competitive, assuming different game systems.
Vicente Moreno Peris was born in the Valencian town of Massanassa 48 years ago. After an successful career as a footballer, he took his first steps as a head coach at Xerez CD, from which he hung up his boots to later become the team's head coach in the past season 2011/12.
His next spell in the dugout was at Nástic de Tarragona, where he spent five campaigns. He was at the helm of the Catalan side in Segunda 'B', who earn promotion to Segunda 'A' and in his first year in that tier, he led the team in the play-offs for promotion to the Spanish top flight.
Next, Vicente Moreno inspired RCD Mallorca to promotion from Segunda 'B' to the Primera Division. His last club in Spain was RCD Espanyol de Barcelona in the 2020/21 season competing against UD Almería back then, when the Catalan team made it to the LaLiga Santander as champions. In the following 2021/22 campaign, he comfortably help the team to secure top-tier status.
Since he began his career as a head coach, Vicente Moreno has hardly been inactive as he has worked for the clubs where he has played a vital role after leading sides in 400 league matches, 74 of them in the top tier of Spanish football.
Vicente Moreno has been a sough-after coach following the recently finished season by teams with the likes of Elche CF, Valencia CF and even Seville FC.
He arrives at UD Almería with a coaching team of five members: second coach Dani Pendín, conditioning trainer Daniel Jesús Pastor, goalkeeping coach Jesús Salvador Rodríguez and analysts José Luis Deus Rodríguez and Ramón Arturo Pons.
