Rachad: 'I really appreciate what Rubi said about me and when he did it'

The 19-year-old UD Almería 'B' striker, who made his senior team debut as a starter against CD Castellón, was deeply grateful to the head coach. The player praised him after last Monday's tough defeat

UD Almería 'B' player Rachad Fettal has been in the Club's official radio station studios to talk about his senior team debut as a starter, the situation of the team in the league and more personally, about his footballing career. The UD Almería head coach Rubi, who made an important self-criticism after the tough defeat against CD Castellón last Monday, also highlighted the good work of Rachad, who for the first time started from the off in the match. Regarding this fact, the footballer has stated: 'I'm very happy that Rubi said that about me. I'm not only very grateful to him and the coaching staff for the opportunity, but also to my team-mates for the way in which they welcomed me. The defeat was hard to take and talking about me at a time like this satisfies me.'

Regarding the 19-year-old's professional future, the young striker has got clear ideas and is well aware that he is in a process of progress: 'I still have a lot to improve, I need to work on details and some aspects that are difficult for me to become a better footballer.'

The Torre Pacheco native player remembered his father, a very important person for him in his sporting career as he was the person who has accompanied him on his football path: 'My father is the one who helps me keep my head on straight, the one who got me into football and the one who has accompanied me to all the games since I was little. He's always been with me and I owe him everything.'

Rachad made his UD Almería senior team debut last season in the Primera Division, against Real Betis playing off the bench in the 74th minute. This season, Rubi has already counted on him twice; the first, in the last minutes at the Pepico Amat Stadium in Elda and the second against CD Castellón in which he started.

'I don't notice anything different compared to the day of my debut and my goal is the same. I try to contribute to the team, bring good vibes and help in every way I can,' the talented attacker explained.

Another of the topics discussed during the interview was the current situation of the team. 'The most important thing is to continue creating chances, remaining strong in attack because sooner or later the goals will come. Adding three points against SD Eibar would help a lot. We must look for victory to redeem ourselves and feel good about our fans because we owe it to them,' he said.
