Maximiano: 'A good pre-season is a guarantee to face the competition'

The UD Almería goalkeeper considers the work being done now in the off-season preparations of the utmost importance. He highlights: 'We're all very motivated. We've closed one book to open a different one'

UD Almería goalkeeper Maximiano considers  the work being done now during the preparation period for LaLiga of the utmost importance, since as he argued: 'A good pre-season is a guarantee to then face the competition in the best possible way.'

The Portuguese keeper made these statements in an interview with the Club's official media at the Marbella training camp. 'We're all very motivated and eager to give our best. We've closed one book to start another that we trust will be very different. We no longer think about the past, but about the present and what lies ahead,' Maximiano stressed.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper also valued positively the fact that 'the group is similar to last season and therefore, we all know each other.'

When asked about head coach Rubi, he responded: 'He's very demanding and makes us work hard every day. He's also very methodical and organised because when things go wrong or he doesn't like how we do it, he talks to us and corrects the mistakes until they're solved.'

UD Almería are in the third week of the pre-season. For Maximiano, 'it's still too early to draw conclusions because we're putting in a lot of work, which is shown in the friendlies, but I reckon we've had good vibes. We're learning concepts, although I'd highlight greater defensive security, among other aspects.'

When questioned about LaLiga Hypermotion he said: 'It's highly competitive and anything can happen until the end, as we've seen.'
