UD Almería return to pre-season training
After the medicals, preparations for the Rojiblancos get underway
The first pre-season training session got underway this Tuesday afternoon at the Anexo Power Horse Stadium with the players working up a sweat for an hour and a half and in the scorching heat. From now on, there will be no break and a two-a-day session is scheduled for this Wednesday. After last Monday's medicals, UD Almería resumed training. Head coach Rubi, who once again is at the helm of the squad had a long meeting with his players in the dressing room along with Club Managing Director Mohamed El Assy, who later saw the practice accompanied by advisor Ibrahim Ewis and team manager Mohamed Adel.
The 27 footballers who underwent their medicals and check-ups were those who trained under the guidelines of Rubi and his coaching staff. All of them worked in the group except Baba, who was exercising on the sidelines. The Ghanaian midfielder underwent appendicitis surgery at the end of last season and has now taken it easy, while the rest of his team-mates completed a demanding football practice after being 43 days on holiday.
The current UD Almería squad is formed by goalkeepers Maximiano, Fernando and Bruno Iribarne; right-backs Mendes and Pozo; central defenders Kaiky, Chumi and Radovanović; left-backs Centelles and Bruno Langa; midfielders Edgar, Lopy, Baba, Robertone, Melero, Jonathan Viera, Svidersky, Gui Guedes, Léo Baptistão, Ramazani, Appiah, Arnau Puigmal, Embarba and Sergio Arribas, as well as forwards Luis Suárez, Koné and Marezi. Brand-new signing Nico Melamed is yet to join, who is on holiday after having played the play-offs for promotion to Primera; César Montes, who has just participated with the Mexico squad in the Copa América and last but not least Marc Pubill, who is part of the Spanish Olympic team.
