UD Almería and José Gomes reach an agreement to terminate his contract
The now-former first-team head coach bids emotional farewell to the Rojiblancos squad
Even though Jose Gomes’ employment contract was due to expire at the end of this 2020/21 season, UD Almería and the Portuguese head coach have reached an agreement to terminate his contract, so he will no longer be in the driving seat of the UD Almeria first-team.
Along with him, the members of his backroom lieutenants Jorge Mendoça, Joao Pinedo, André Bikey, Jorge Baptista and Claudio Lopes, as well as physiologist Jaime Alberto Barbosa will also leave the Club following their dismissals.
Let’s not forget that José Gomes signed for UD Almería at the end of last season, taking charge of the team for the play-offs for promotion to the top flight. Unfortunately, the Indalicos’ play-off ambitions ended after losing to Girona FC in the semi-finals.
UD Almería would like to gratefully thank Jose Gomes and his coaching team for their hard work, full commitment and expertise in driving the Club, placing the Rojiblancos team in the race for promotion to the top-tier LaLiga Santander, although the last results achieved have not been as good as expected.
José Gomes and his assistants visited the Juegos Mediterráneos this Tuesday morning for the last time and got rather emotional when the UD Almeria players waved goodbye and gave the departing head coach a warm applause.
