Rubi: 'My degree of satisfaction with work, today, is complete'
The UD Almería head coach is very happy with how the pre-season is developing. He highlights that ambition and humility have to be the hallmarks of his team
UD Almería head coach Rubi has chatted to the Club's official media to talk about how the pre-season is going and what he expects from his team in the official 2024/25 campaign. When asked about his level of satisfaction with the job today, he was very clear: 'It's complete, immense. From the first day, we've sought to increase the level in each friendly match. We must improve and consolidate things compared to the previous meeting, and we're doing it.'
Furthermore, as the Rojiblancos' gaffer added: 'Physical load is being vital and this is a situation that we overcome very well. It must be taken into account that the players accumulate training and playing minutes in the friendlies, which are now four.'
'The pre-season results are the least important thing, but on this occasion, I do consider them important, especially not losing, taking into account everything that happened in the past,' the Vilassar de Mar native commented.
Rubi is very clear about what the hallmarks of his team must have: 'Ambition because we must start strong and keep up the level, and humility because they're going to sweet-talk us into being considered favorites for promotion, being a good squad... and in a competition as complicated as this, anyone can beat you.'
The man in the driving seat of the UD Almería first team announced: 'We're going to try to play at a high pace, with high intensity, but sometimes football also requires pauses. You have to know when to opt for one thing or another.' In this regard, he also stated: 'We must have the ability to come back, but the important thing is to get ahead. In our last season in the Primera Division, with 15 debutants, we were almost always leading at half-time, but then we had a hard time holding on. We have to start winning and not speculate. If you score one-nil, you have to go for the second.'
UD Almería have one of the youngest squads in LaLiga Hypermotion, something that Rubi values very positively, although he clarified: 'It must be compensated with some older players, but they continue to be hungry for success and ambitious.'
