UD Almería player Marc Pubill has been awarded at the Sports Gala that Onda Cero radio station organise every year at the Cervantes Theatre in Almería to recognise the successes of different athletes, clubs and institutions throughout a season.

The 21-year-old UD Almería right-back was awarded for winning the gold medal with the Spanish men's football team at the 2024 Olympic Games held last summer in Paris. The player, who received the award from Paco Espinar, director of Onda Cero in Almería, thanked the radio station for this recognition and stated that achieving Olympic gold is the dream of any athlete, although for him it was a bittersweet summer due to the team's relegation to Segunda. He said that returning to the top tier this year is feasible despite the bad start to the season and stressed that UD Almería had contributed to opening the doors to the Spanish football team for him.

Along with Marc Pubill, other athletes, clubs and institutions were awarded, including his Almeria-born team-mate Alex Baena, who plays for Villarreal CF. He was unable to travel to Almería, his mother collected the award from José Juan Rubí, Sports Councillor of Roquetas de Mar, and sent a video message. Capel, another important footballer from Almería, collected the award for sporting career, while the promotion to professional football of referee José Antonio Sánchez Villalobos was also recognised. The Europa handball team, the Desértica, the Los Troncos canoeing club... were others awarded by Onda Cero radio station.
