Lucas Robertone: ‘I dream of playing one day for the Argentina squad’

The UD Almeria midfielder, who has been international U23, considered himself as a Rojiblanco through and through, but the Argentinian is also passionate about the World Cup

Now, it is his turn to talk as the end of the World Cup 2022 is fast approaching. UD Almeria central midfielder Lucas Robertone has shared his happy thoughts about his home country as the Argentina squad and the French will be adversaries on the sport’s biggest stage next Sunday. The Argentinian midfielder was asked about it and replied ‘Argentinians are ecstatic; I reckon the work that the team is doing is truly remarkable.’ He then added ‘it's the final that everyone was waiting for, it’ll be really nice and we fervently hope it’ll be a great game.’

The career aspiration of every footballer is to play for his home country and Robertone, who has been international in lower ranks, such as the U23s squad, does not give up on it; quite the contrary: ‘Making the leap to their national team is a dream for any player. I truly hope the opportunity comes to me and I can be part of the Argentina senior squad some day.’

The 25-year-old Concordia-born midfielder highlighted and positively assessed this mid-season break for UD Almería: ‘The team is making progress and improving tactical aspects that the head coach is asking us to work on. This is essential before LaLiga resumes.’

Togetherness. Lucas Robertone stressed that it is absolutely necessary to have faith in your team-mates so that all the players can team up and achieve the goals: ‘The head coach trusts me, just like my team-mates. I try to improve every day and do the best for the team and also meet the objectives with UD Almería.’

To end his speech, he highlighted the real importance of the friendly game against Italian Serie A side Torino FC: ‘It’s great to face teams from other European leagues, it’s incredibly interesting and we’ll keep on improving. We’ll try to obtain a positive result to go into the fixture against Cádiz CF in form.’ In addition, he mentioned the deep desire that everyone in the squad feels to do better when playing away from home and they are working hard for it.
