Luis Suárez: 'The goals are rewarding for me, helping the team'

The UD Almería striker removes his top scorer medal and only thinks about contributing to 'being in the positions we should.'

Luis Suárez is currently the UD Almería top scorer in the entire second division, but he does not think too much about it. He just wants to contribute everything possible to be at the top as soon as possible. 'The goals are rewarding for me, helping the team, as we've returned to winning ways away from home. I want to contribute as much as I can so little by little we can be in the positions where we should,' he said in an interview for the Club's official radio.

The Colombian valued recovery as one of the aspects to take into account in this stretch of match concentration: 'Tough weeks are coming with plenty of games. You have to rest enough to be well for the next one physically and mentally.' On that note, Luis added: 'If there's any rotation we feel prepared, we know that we're all 100% involved and it's in these moments when you'll see that the team is united to win all the games.'

The 25-year-old confessed that he did not feel pressure at the beginning of the competition because he was unable to score a goal, he was confident that the goals would come: 'I didn't feel angry, I wanted to help the team because we were creating many chances and they weren't seized. In the last two games, I've had very few chances, not to mention just a few goals, and I scored four.'

Luis Suárez is fully aware about the importance of picking up three points at once again after the 1-2 victory over Real Zaragoza: 'In this tier, it's key to achieve several victories in a row. Between the play-off and drop zone there is a six-point gap, so you realise how competitive this league is and getting two wins in a row can place you towards the top of the table.'

The Santa Marta native concluded by asking for the total support of the UD Almería fans in the next encounter against Albacete Balompié so that the team and fans come as one in the league events at the UD Almería Stadium: 'We hope that the fans will be with us on Thursday, we know that it's working hours, but I hope they find time to turn our Stadium into a fortress from now on.'
