Léo Baptistão makes comeback after injury lay-off
The Brazilian striker is available again, although he is still not at the same level of performance of his team-mates and he needs some more time to keep up with the pace of the competition
Léo Baptistão has received a medical discharge from the injury he suffered last season and which forced him to undergo surgery back on 24th May when he was operated on by the prestigious traumatologists Pedro Luis Ripoll and Niek Van Dijk.
The Brazilian attacker suffered a severe ankle sprain and took advantage of the situation to undergo surgery and get rid of the injury on his Achilles tendon. Then, he was given a recovery period of four months. The rehabilitation process that he has carried out with the Club's medical services has been optimal and as a consequence of this fact he has met the deadlines. Even during his summer holidays in Brazil, he was dealing with it and following some specific guidelines.
Now, Baptistão is available again for selection by head coach Vicente Moreno, although he is obviously still not at the same level of performance as his team-mates, especially since he still needs to pick up the pace of the competition. It must be taken into account that he began the pre-season in the medical room with the physiotherapists. Then, at the Benahavís training camp, at the end of July, he began to do individual ball work and in mid-August he gradually started training with the rest of his team-mates.
UD Almería, with Léo Baptistão at full capacity in the preparations, continue to gear up for the game that at 7pm this Saturday will see Cádiz CF and the Rojiblancos locking horns at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium. The Rojiblancos have put full focus on tactical drills and recreated match situations. There are two more sessions ahead that will be delivered behind closed doors this Thursday and Friday before travelling to Cádiz.
