Chumi: 'These days, it's difficult to play 100 games in the same team'

The UD Almería central defender talks about his career at the Club and the imminent league match in Elda. The squad hopes to bag all three points again

UD Almería central defender Chumi has chatted to UDA Radio, the Club's official radio station, to talk about his career in the Club after making 100 appearances as a Rojiblanco. He has also looked ahead to  Sunday's match against CD Eldense. 'We know that in the Segunda division all the games are complicated and even more so away from home. They have a pitch that gives the impression that it's somewhat smaller, it's quite tight. Furthermore, they're a team that fight a lot on second ball situations, that goes to the death to win 1v1 duels... It'll be tough for sure,' stressed the Galicia native.

Regarding the type of match Chumi expects, the footballer assured: 'I think it'll have a hectic start. They put high intensity into the game. We have to try to match that and if we're good, we'll have a good chance of grabbing the three points.' On the last Matchday against Sporting de Gijón, the 25-year-old player completed his 100th game as a Rojiblanco. 'These days, it's something difficult to achieve because the transfer window many more transfers and the players spend less time in the clubs. For me, it's an important figure, I've been here for many years and I'm very grateful to both the Club and the city,' stated the player.

The team has started this season on the right foot. Chumi considers that Rubi has a lot to do with this: 'For us, it's very important, he's a head coach who really likes to work, repeat tasks and have very clear tactical concepts. We're working well, we're motivated. Each week a different treatment is given to the technical talks depending, above all, on the rivals of each Matchday.'

The Laracha-born defender concluded by sharing one of the keys to getting good results: 'It's vital not to lose and keep adding points. We've had two consecutive away games. On Sunday, we have another one and then two consecutive games at home, in which we have to push to try to get as many points as possible.'
