Rubi: Scoring goals is getting closer to victory

The UD Almería head coach points out that if they compete only thinking about not conceding goals, the normal thing is to lose against Atlético de Madrid.

In addition to 'playing a perfect match,' Rubi has given the keys to achieving a positive result at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium: 'We'll play the match against Atlético de Madrid with courage; scoring goals is getting closer to victory. If we compete only thinking about not conceding, the normal thing is to lose. It's true that we haven't won away from home yet but apart from some games, like the one at the Spotify Camp Nou that we focused on to reach the break drawing -getting it-, we've always gone all out to win the rest of games even if it didn't work out for us.'

The Rojiblancos' gaffer highlighted from the Power Horse Stadium press room: 'We're going to try to do it with the highest motivation that getting something out of the Metropolitano would be a huge prize; It motivates us and it'd reinforce us enormously, a tough game would damage the rivals.'

The Vilassar de Mar native also stressed: 'We also look to extend our unbeaten streak of three games; We don't want to ruin it.'  Rubi has talked about their intentions this Sunday: 'We want to make it difficult for them, starting from the defensive approach, but we also want to scare them and create dangerous situations so that they see that their game could be in danger.'

All of the above is obviously compatible with the awareness of the level that Atlético are showing lately, which according to Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia'Rubi' 'it's nice to see them play at this point in the season and it's a shame they're not in the Champions League because I'm pretty sure that they'd be fighting successfully in Europe.' On that note, he truly believes that a balance between ambition and reality is absolutely necessary: 'You can't face any sport feeling inferior to the one in front of you but also you have to be realistic and know the level of your rival.' Rubi also mentioned that Atlético transmit confidence and a good game that forces us to play the perfect match. In addition to believing it, you have to match up this type of rivals.'

During this pre-Atleti presser on Matchday 29, the UD Almería head coach announced that Pozo has been ruled out 'due to a muscular issue' and the availability for selection of Sousa 'who is now fighting fit'.
