Garitano: "We lacked consistency and effectiveness in the areas"

The UD Almería head coach considers that his team did not defend well against Valencia CF and were not decisive in attack, while the rivals knew how to make the most of the chances they created

UD Almería head coach Gaizka Garitano stated in the post-game press conference at the Mestalla Stadium press room that 'practically was our typical match. Maximum effectiveness of the opposing team with two shots on goal and two goals, while we've finished on goal twice as many, or more, than them, but in the Primera Division being strong in the areas is decisive.'

The Rojiblancos gaffer explained: 'We have not materialised the very clear goal-scoring opportunities that we had to have taken the lead and then, in our area we aren't a top division team.'

The Basque Country native coach commented: 'Valencia CF have been effective and beat us. In the general calculation we're not weaker than anyone, but in the areas, as I said, they score a lot and we aren't decisive and lacked consistency. We failed the first one we had and they netted the two strikes they kicked. It's typical for us as it happened to us against Deportivo Alavés; three shots, three goals; today two shots, two goals.'

When asked about refereeing decisions, Mr Garitano responded: 'I don't usually talk about referees. I have to see the plays first to give my opinion.'
