Edgar: 'It's a challenge to play against opponents who aren't conceding goals'

The UD Almería central defender talks about the upcoming match against Elche CF, although he does not forget the cold drop victims. 'It's very painful and I want to express all my support to the people of Valencia,' he emphasises

UD Almería central defender Edgar reviewed the team's news on UDA Radio, focusing on the events in the Valencian Community, the postponement of the match against Córdoba CF and the next Matchday against Elche CF. The Catalan began by speaking about the cold drop catastrophe and acknowledged that he is experiencing it with anger for not being able to collaborate so much: 'With great helplessness for not being able to help much. From here you do what you can, but in the end you're far away and you see the pain, the destruction... It's very hard. I've already done it personally to the people I know in the area, but I want to express all my support to the people of Valencia.”

Regarding the suspension of the clash on Matchday 13 against Córdoba CF, which had to be called off due to a red alert from the AEMET (Spain's Met Office) in the province of Almería, he pointed out that 'when there's a warning it's because there's a risk and if people were going to move from other places to the Stadium, who then had to return home, it's good to take caution. We do not have to criticise the fact that measures are taken due to a weather warning, even if nothing happens later.'

In sports, the 27-year-old stated: 'It's a good time for us, we're getting victories. The day to day is the same, the team is much more united than two months ago; Above all, things have turned out and that gives you a boost of energy because you see that what your work on is reflected on the day.'

Edgar considers that UD Almería are doing well attacking-wise, but that dead ball situation is an issue: 'We aren't conceding too many goals. It's true that we concede a lot from corner kicks and in strategic situations, which is something that penalises you a lot in the Segunda division. We must change it now. In attack, we created a lot of danger and converted the chances.'

Next opponents Elche CF are a team that are going through a good spell speaking and the player concluded: 'It's a challenge to face a team that isn't conceding goals, but we have to manage to score them. Our strength is attack, we like to have the ball, being creative in the final third. The rivals have their good moments just like us and we have to make the most of them.'
