UD Almería Women back to business with objective of fighting for promotion

The Rojiblancas begin their pre-season with 5 new faces and 8 renewals in the squad. Pedro López continues to lead the girls team that finished last season in spectacular fashion

UD Almería Women are back to business as they start their 2024/25 pre-season. They will be training on Thursday afternoon at the La Juventud Stadium and the objective is none other than to fight for promotion to higher-tier Segunda RFEF.

The Rojiblancas will once again compete in the Group IV of Tercera RFEF, although with very different rivals from last season. After having competed in previous campaigns with teams from Murcia, Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid, now they will do so against teams from Andalusia, Murcia, Extremadura and an outfit from Castilla La Mancha.

The opponents next season will be the following: Betis B, Sevilla B, Cádiz CF, Granada B, AD La Rambla de Córdoba, Atlético Benamiel, Málaga City and Ciudad Alcalá, from Andalusia; Real Murcia, Alhama El Pozo and City of Murcia, from the region of Murcia; San Miguel, Don Benito and Sport Extremadura from the region of Extremadura, and CF Albacete.

A total of 16 teams and greater chances of promotion because the top two in each Group will advance, while the third, depending on the score, will be able to compete in a play-off.

Pedro López will continue to be at the helm of a girls team that had a spectacular end to the season. In fact, after a period of ups and downs, they only lost two games on the last 14 Matchdays, being undefeated for 10 of them.

The squad is not complete yet as it is still under construction. For the time being, there are 5 fresh faces; 3 summer signings: forwards Gisela (Granada CF B) and Liubov (EDA Almería), as well as goalkeeper María Hueto (UD Tenerife), and two players who have been promoted from UD Almería Women U16 (midfielder Ángela Cañadas and forward Aitana). In addition, defenders Marina, Mireya, Conchita, Lucía and Marina and also midfielder Marta Villalba and forwards Carla and Jessi remain in the squad.
