Almería’s footballers go back to training following two months of suspension

Light at the end of the tunnel! The first-team squad exercise individually this Saturday in morning and afternoon training sessions

Almost two months after trainings were cancelled due to the suspension of the league and the coronavirus outbreak, Almería get back on the pitch this Saturday in a two-a-day training session at the facilities of the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.

B team players Jero, Callejón, Dani Albiar and Rubén Enri will be joining the first-team Almeria squad this time around. In fact, these four young players also got tested for Covid-19 together with all the first-team players and coaching staff as a preliminary step before the competition restart.

The Rojiblancos will use both the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium and the Anexo training ground. While a group of players are taking part in the first scheduled practice at 9 a.m, the rest of the footballers will be training at 6 p.m; always under strict social distancing and drastic safety measures.

In this first phase players will conduct their tailored programmes alone, arriving at the facilities already in their kit in fours every 15 minutes. They will have to park their respective cars in designated nearby parking spaces and then, access the stadium through different doors. They will not be allowed to use the dressing rooms. Moreover, physical contact including tackling and close-proximity drills are banned. Access will be limited to 6 players at a time either on the main pitch or at the Anexo training ground.

Each footballer will be sent individual one-hour-and-a-half workout programmes the day before, and as soon as they finish, everybody will have to get back into their cars and head back home with a bag with their training gear ready for the next day. There will be no contact with coaching staff or each other at any time and all the material they use will be disinfected each and every shift so as to keep them safe. In addition, there will be hydro-alcoholic gels dispensers as well as bins at the two entrances to the stadium's turf and the two envisaged accesses at the Anexo. Clothes from the previous day to be disinfected will be placed in one of them, whereas waste goes into the other one.

Due to this strict controls and the guidelines set by LaLiga, access will obviously not be allowed to fans or the media.

According to the schedule planned by the club, Sunday will be a non-working day. Next week, players will go back to training from Monday, 11th May.
