Almeria signs top-notch left-footed Aketxe on two-year deal

Ager Aketxe, a 26-year-old midfielder, becomes a new UD Almería player for the next two seasons. The Rojiblanco club is delighted to welcome a valuable footballer with undoubted potential, who had numerous offers within the market, especially since he was available on a free transfer. Ager Aketxe is a very complete midfielder considering that he is a left-footed maestro. He has been unquestionably forging a successful football career that makes him a talented, skillful left-footer with a wide experience. 

He has played more than 100 matches in the second-tier, in addition to those played in the top-flight, Copa del Rey, Europa Legue, Champions League, play-offs… so far, he has made a total of 232 appearances in official matches. 

Aketxe played last season for Deportivo de La Coruña, being named in the starting XI 39 times in the league. He scored seven goals and four assists. The Bilbao-born footballer played 33 games for newly-promoted Cadiz last season, scoring four times and four assists. He had a previous Cadista stage before emigrating to the United States in the 2016/17 campaign (winter transfer market), with 16 league appearances, in which he found the net 4 times and 2 assists. He started his footie career at the Athletic Club de Bilbao Academy, and therefore he played in the second-tier with the Athletic Bilbao B team, and in the top-flight with the first-team. 

As aforementioned, Aketxe is a very complete midfielder. He not only has quality, tactical awareness, but also physical energy and a fantastic, enticing left foot. He is great at putting into practice pre-prepared routines such as set-pieces and free-kicks, and also excels in long distance passes to the opposite goal aiming to score screamers. He is a versatile player who is capable of adapting and playing in different positions such as midfielder, attacking playmaker and left-winger.
