Almería announce the signing of FC Barcelona B centre-back Chumi
The Galician player, 21 years old and 1.87 in height, signs a two-year deal as Rojiblanco
UD Almería completed the signing of a new player; we are talking about Chumi, a central defender who has been playing for the Barça B team, FC Barcelona B in recent seasons. He is 21 years old, 1.87 tall, and has just signed a two-year deal with UD Almeria.
Juan Brandariz Movilla, aka Chumi, was born on 2nd March, 1999 in Laracha (La Coruña), which is a small town located in Spain's North-western region of Galicia. He began his football career playing for his hometown’s team to later on sign for Deportivo de La Coruña, and then for FC Barcelona U-16s. Chumi won the league and UEFA Youth League with FC Barcelona U-19s. In the 2018/19 season, he renewed his contract with FC Barcelona and became part of FC Barcelona B.
Moreover, Chumi was called up by Ernesto Valverde to join the pre-season American tour, making his debut in the Barça first-team. The former Barcelona head coach counted on him several times; the new Almeria signing was named in the squad list for LaLiga, UEFA Champions League, and in Copa del Rey, he was a starter in the 0-1 victory over Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa.
