2-1: UD Almería Women kick off league with a W and switch attention to Queen's Cup
The UD Almeria girls edged out Real Betis 'B' Women 2-1 and will host FF La Solana in the 'Torneo del KO' tournament on Wednesday
UD Almería Women got off to a good start in the league within Group IV of the Tercera RFEF as they edged out Real Betis 'B' Women 2-1 on Matchday 1 at the 'Emilio Campra' Youth Stadium. Although the victory for the team from Almería was confirmed in injury time, the final score was a fair result.
It is worth highlighting that UD Almería Women reigned superior in the opening half, in which they took the lead in the 23rd minute through Tejedor, who completed a well-timed delivery from Jessi. Before they had other chances that were not converted and after the 1-0 they were close to extending their lead. However, half-time was reached with that minimal difference.
The second half began in the same way, with greater initiative from the Indálicas who continued to move forward looking for the second goal to get the league opener back on track. Although they created danger, Betis 'B' Women leveled things up the 61st minute. From that moment on, the Betis girls began to cause trouble and were close to turning the game around, but the Rojiblancas, today in black, were not willing to drop points and they achieved victory in stoppage time thanks to Ángela Moreno's strike on 90 minutes to make it the final 2-1.
UD Almería Women, who this season aspires to earn promotion to Segunda RFEF, have no break and at 8pm local time this Wednesday, they will be facing FF La Solana in the Queen's Cup first round, a single-legged tie that is going to be played at the 'Emilio Campra' Youth Stadium.
