1-3: UD Almería get relegated to Segunda Division as they lost to Getafe CF
The Rojiblancos failed to defeat the Azulón team at the Power Horse Stadium in a very complicated, emotionally match and ended up going down to the Spanish second tier
UD Almería could not leave the Power Horse Stadium as a Primera Division team. As Rojiblancos suffered a 1-3 reverse against Getafe CF and the relegation to the second tier was official. The UD Almeria players began the match somewhat hesitant and with many inaccuracies, as a result of that nervousness, Getafe CF's opening goal was netted. The Indálicos managed to level things up, but in the second half, two more goals from the Madrid-based based left the final 1-3 that sent the Rojiblancos back to the Segunda Division.
The previous fixture against Villarreal CF the team was a great version of themselves and deserved to win, this is why head coach Pepe Mel did not change a single player in the starting XI and maintained the same formation. However, the hosts, well aware of the importance of this match, went out onto the pitch very hesitant, nervous and with many inaccuracies. Logically, this was used by Getafe CF to corner the Rojiblancos inside their own area and begin to create dangerous against the UD Almería squad that were trying to get rid of those nerves to stop parking the bus, but it was not like that and the Azulón side went ahead in the 27th minute thanks to a goal from Greenwood who, precisely, made the most of a mistake in the team's build-up play. From that moment on, the team began to regain strength and to combine actions that led to Soria's goal. The first to try his luck was Dion Lopy with a shot from the edge of the box, shortly after Embarba would also try to tie the game, but it would not be until the 43rd minute when the tie finally came.
'Choco' Lozano managed to make it 1-1, taking advantage of a rebound from the goalkeeper inside the six-yard box. Furthermore, the Rojiblancos could have put themselves in front in the last play of the first half, but the attempt, on the goal line, went over the post.
In the second half, the Rojiblancos came out with renewed ideas, without nerves and bossing things. In fact, Robertone was about to score 2-1, but his shot missed the post. From there, everything went downhill, as usual, in Getafe CF's first clear chance in the second period, it would be 1-2.
Once again the home side had to pluck the courage, yet they were not going to be able to get Getafe CF in trouble who were very solid. The legs were failing and had nerve-wracking feelings as the players saw the possibility of leaving the Stadium as a Primera Division team further away.
In the 61st minute, Mata extended their lead 1-3 and left UD Almería weakened, with almost no ability to react and despite attempts to try to turn the score around, the match would end with that result.
Relegation to the Segunda Division was official and the emotions could no longer be controlled, many players could not help crying, but even though it was expected it was still painful.
