Almeria to boost defensive options with new teamer Ivanildo Fernandes

The Rojiblancos club makes the first January market signing. The Portuguese central-back is left-footed, 24 years old and 1,94 metres tall

UD Almería made the first signing this January transfer window that starts this Monday, 4 January 2021. The Portuguese centre-back Ivanildo Fernandes, 24 years old and 1,94 metres tall, arrives on loan from Sporting CP ‘B’ with an option to buy.

The latest UD Almería signing is now wearing the red and white striped jersey. In point of fact, he has already joined the training sessions on the sidelines.

Ivanildo Jorge Mendes Fernandes was born on 26 March 1996 in the Lusitanian town of Amadora. He made a promising career for himself in football going through different ranks at Sporting Lisbon. The new teamer has played on loan for Moreirense FC, Portugal's top flight team, as well as Turskish Süper Lig clubs Trabzonsport and Rizesport.

The new UD Almería player is a left-footed centre-back who can also play on the right wing and is characterised by physical energy, speed, passing and crossing accuracy.

Head coach José Gomes knows him well and has commented that his arrival will help boost the team's defence in the foreseeable absences of the internationals Maraš and Jorge Cuenca. The latter is expected to compete in the European Under-21s Championship in March 2021.
